-_- I'm sorry but...I hear these comments way too often. It's a drawing. It's exaggerated. Yes, my drawings feature characters that are way too skinny to be healthy in real life. They also have heads that are way too big, they're way too tall, their noses are too small to breathe out of, their mouths are too low on their face to contain a lower jaw..... Yet all anybody can ever point out is how skinny they are.
Well, I've mostly stopped using the whole "she's an alien" as a reason for why I draw my characters thin.... Especially quarians, since they seem to have more flesh anyways lol. Anyways I'm sorry I blew up a bit there... I'm just getting a bit tired of that kind of comment... the whole "she's so skinny, is that healthy?" thing just makes me kind of irritated, since almost all cartoons an illustrations in the world have some kind of cartoony exaggeration to the bodies that makes them not natural... Just feels like people are picking on the skinny thing because it's a movement right now or something. @_@;;;;
Aw, yeah it's actually not a wedding dress XD. It's just the way that she wears her hood hahah. [link] That's her original design picture... I just didn't add all her colours when I did my version ^^ Buut I'm glad you like it hahah
Ohhhh, I really love the soft lighting here. Very elegant and warm. Probably a lot more personal preference, but I love the direction of the lighting too--the touch of light around her shoulders and then how dark her front is really looks nice here.
Iyana looks so gorgeous in your hands! The pose and soft lighting looks perfect! And the way her veil drapes down from her helmet, HNG!
And speaking of the helmet, good God I love it, especially how you added detailing of her head and eyes behind the visor. I hope you have time to take more commissions, because it's demanded you take more of my money you wonderful artist you! X3
D'awwwwwwwwww Well first off, I'm REALLY glad I added her face silhouette... I wasn't going to originally, hahah. Drawing her drapey hood was very fun.... I dunno. I'd like to do more 'portrait' kind of feeling pictures for the ME universe. :>
Aaaw, well while that IS flattering, I really can't take credit for any character designs. Nearly all of the pics I've been submitting are already designed...I'm just redrawing them in my style. Also, I could never HOPE to be as high calibre a concept artist as say...Rhodes or Shi Kai wang. There's just SO much that goes into it....way way more than just drawing one character once. hahah. But still, thanks so much
Maybe that was a pretty ambitious claim lol Maybe you shouldn't be the head designer because they obviously know what they're doing up there at bioware but I think the head designer would benefit a lot from having you as at least one of their right hand men. One thing about mass effect even though it is my favorite series of games of all time is that after a while it all starts to look the same. I do realize this has a lot to do with limitations the developers have that they may not always be able to overcome (like for instance the general lack of female aliens) but I think the occasional image like this or many of your others during the developing process would be a great inspiration and would set the bar visually for how things should look. When you're dealing with an entire universe, visual diversity should be at the forefront of the design process. I'm just a kid who doesn't really know what I'm talking about and you might never become the art director of any project, much less a mass effect game, but from what I've seen, I think you could be.
XD. it IS a good point though. One of the biggest complaints I've heard about ME is that, yes, they DO all look the same. I do think that devoting a few more resources to character variety would have really benefited the reputation of the series.... ESPECIALLY having better gender variation. The female krogan and salarian that we got in 3 was a big fat joke. I DO like what they did with the quarians......even if the males look like horses, at least they look different. hahah.
